I started My Vintage Secret well into my thrifting days so there are a lot of great items that you haven’t seen. So today is a catch-up day! I love vintage purses because they are almost always greater quality then what you can find in mainstream stores. I love the idea of paying $5 for a bag that will last longer than a $50 one manufactured today. Without further ado, here are some of my favourite purses.

Stud Muffin

This was one of my favourite finds! I got it at Goodwill on Overlea Boulevard (Eglinton E. and Don Mills). Sadly, I had a poor experience at this location. There are no price tags or a list displaying base prices for their items. I have also never seen such an unhappy staff. I feel I overpaid for what I got and they were not willing to bargain even for an item that had a hole in a seam which I had to fix. They claimed it was in the salvage area which again, wasn’t marked. Even though this purse is one of my favourites but I would not recommend visiting this location.

Boxy

This is the first vintage item that my boyfriend got for me! Wes surprised me one day with this purse he found it at Double Take Thrift Store (Gerrard and Parliament). I love the structure of this bag, it’s acted as a good table top on many occasions.

Floral Weave

I was looking for a new school bag and fell in love with this adorable grandma-esque bag right away. I was lucky because it didn’t have a price tag on it so I got it for their base purse price. I found it at Flashback at 33 Kensington Avenue.

The Notebook

Is it a bag? Is it a notebook? This strange and awesome purse was waiting for me at the I Miss You Vintage booth at the Clothing Show in the Better Living Centre. I Miss You store is found on Ossington and carries amazing designer vintage but their collection for this show included more affordable pieces. I made off with a few belts and this lovely bag.

  2. I love hearing all your thrifting stories, and seeing all your treasured finds. The notebook purse is …amazing is probably the only word I can use to describe it – so cool! And I am very drawn to boxed purses.

@Genya, thanks! I have so many that there’s now a purse shrine in my room. Vintage purses are too hard to resist.

@ShoptTOLive I’m so glad you like hearing my stories! It’s weird to write about yourself sometimes but I’m happy it’s entertaining to at least one person ;)

Thanks for the purse love ladies!
