Grey Gardens is a 1975 documentary featuring a socialite mother and daughter both named Edie Bouvier Beale, the aunt and first cousin to Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. The film features their strange life of dependence and eccentricity while living in a decrepit mansion threatened by eviction. Little Edie was a beautiful aspiring actress but left her dreams in New York to take care of her mother. As you can tell by the picture above, she always had style, even when explaining how her skirt can double as a cape to the cameras in the documentary. Watch the original film but with someone who will appreciate these interesting ladies, I have yet to finish the last 20 minutes because my boyfriend turned it off – the Beales were freaking him out.

As a result of street style blogs like the Sartorialist and Jak and Jill, people attending fashion shows – stylists, writers, buyers – are gaining more exposure for their personal style. The photos featured are taken of Aurora while attending Fashion Weeks around the world. Her “androgynous cool”, supported with amazing tailoring, and minimalist but expert styling, is inspiring.

Some people just have “it” – that strange magnetism that draws in everyone near them. Char Loro is one such person. I met her about a month ago and my girl crush quickly developed. She is completely herself, full of energy, pizazz, and infectious passion which inspires everyone around her. She is an incredibly talented and experienced videographer entering her first year in Radio and Television Arts at Ryerson University where she will surely excel. Visit her personal blog and her work blog to view her videos and experience what true passion is.

What the eff is going on with those no-energy gross-out buns, as seen on Aurora and like, every other fashion blogger in the world right now? It makes me puke in my mouth a bit every time I see one and would really appreciate if everyone could put just half the effort into their hair that they put in their clothes! I’m adding these ladies to my read everyday pile, though, so thanks!

Hhaha you’re my favourite Rea. I just had a conversation with someone else about these and she doesn’t like the messy “gross-out buns” either. I’m still a fan though… I’ll have to conduct a poll about this or something ;)
