The Project
I have had these boots for about three years, I got them from
the ultra-glam store, Sears, but they have been my reliable
go-to-boots for when the weather gets too cold. Last year I decided to pimp them by adding these studs. I liked the result at the time but I think I want to do something different this season. Below you will find the instructions for this DIY and my new proposal! Help!
Instructions
- Find some “blah” shoes/boots that need jazzing up
- Pick your studs! You can find some at your local bead stores. I got these ones at Golden Beads on Queen St. (Toronto). You can also find studs on old punk belts from your local thrift store – or from your former punk boyfriend…like I did. Note: make sure the prongs are long enough to go through your boots.
- Start Studdin’! If you have a bedazzler like me (yes I have one from when I was eight years old) use it. Otherwise I would recommend using a penny to close the studs. Depending on how tough the leather is you may need to make an incision first with an exact-o knife (BE CAREFUL)
The New Proposal
Studs are cool but I might get sick of them before Winter is over, nonetheless I have included some styles in my inspiration collage below. I’m leaning towards a shorter version of number three or going extreme and using silver square studs, similar to number 2, to do the entire back panel of my boots. (Click on the pic below to make it a bit bigger)

The Question
HELP! What do you think I should do? Cool Strappy Pirate, tassels, big studded straps, or something else? I would love to hear your suggestion – please comment below! I’ll let you know what I plan on doing by Friday and you will see the final results next Tuesday!
