It’s 50% off at (Canadian)Value Village stores today! This morning I sprang out of bed ready to hunt through racks and say, “excuse me” a hundred times (I dunno whether to blame the carts or the small aisles but I got personal with a lot of people). Among my many finds were these great watches. They don’t actually work… yet, but they’re pretty and will act as fancy bracelets until I fix them.
The Bloor and Landsdowne (Toronto) location has always had a great selection of jewelry and each watch cost $7.50 with the discount. Most stores are open until 9pm during the week so find the one closest to you and GO tonight! Here’s a list of all Value Villages in the Toronto Area.

The lovely Renee from Eat Live Shop tagged me to participate in a “10 Things That Make Me Happy” challenge. But I’ve decided to twist it around a bit and post my favourite things about vintage (which inevitably leads to my happiness).
My Favourite Find
I’m happiest when I walk out of vintage and thrift stores with shoes, so it’s a toss-up between my Aigle riding boots that I got from a garage sale for $10 (best rain boots ever), my Brown’s combat boots I found at Goodwill (St. Clair) for $13 or my black (Jeffrey Campbell-ish) shoes I got at Value Village in Regina, SK.
Hello! I recently got the opportunity to blog as the Vintage Fashion Columnist for My Vintage Addiction, a site featuring great vintage finds from stationary to housewares! Check out my latest post, Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice
My fashion finds will be posted on My Vintage Addiction every Wednesday!

Boring isn’t it? I have started re-purposing this bag several times but every time I begin another new idea pops into my head. So I require your help! Please help me decide which project to do! To vote please comment below.

Do you remember those Suave commercials? Where the two gorgeous girls walk in slow motion, with hair bouncing around and a voice-over says, “One of these girls is wearing Suave, and the other, a salon brand. If you can’t tell the difference why should we?” THIS feels like one of those moments. I was shopping today and gasped (loudly) when I saw this cardigan because it immediately reminded me of the Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony version that came out this past fall. Like everything Chloë does, I loved this piece from her collection but the $380 price tag quickly popped my dream bubble. However, now I feel like I found it’s long lost older brother. This cardigan is from my favourite thrift store, Double Take (PS. students get 50% off with id) and I purchased it for a cool $3.50.

I decided to do another project from my Cool Couture Remake
Book that I introduced in a former post. The Flutter Sleeve was
one of my favourite DIYs so I was very excited to do this project.
Mine turned out a little differently (my “flutter” is smaller because I used a small sweatshirt) and even though it reminds me (a teensy bit) of a shoulder pads a football player would wear, I’m happy with the results. Check out my instructions and gallery to see how I re-purposed a casual and boring sweatshirt into a feminine, wearable (and sporty) piece.

The Find
I always label these posts as my “latest find” but with thrift shopping I feel these items always find me. You never know what you will discover while sifting through rack after rack of treasures in select sizes. Leather jackets are particularly difficult to find. Thrift stores tease me with the jacket aisle, after shoes I quickly run over hoping to find something spectacular, especially if the shoes let me down. To my surprise, (or not because I was in a smaller center) I found this leather jacket in the perfect size! After thinking over the uncommon colour ie. wearing it around the store, I decided to take it home with me to introduce it to my closet.
Thoughts? What do you think of the colour?

Fur necklace? Yes you heard correctly. I started this DIY knowing that I would either produce a huge mistake or something super cool. And while I don’t know what you think about the result (though someone I showed referred to it as a “rat”) I’m in love, in fact I’m wearing it today I’m so happy with it. Rat or not, here is how to turn a boring second-hand fur collar into something more wearable and exciting.
